Development Update #1

A wrap-up of Chainlink Oracle Reputation's development. - 2020-05-31

Welcome to the first Chainlink Oracle Reputation development update. It’s been a huge month for the team here at reputation.link: we officially launched May 8th. Since that day, the response from the community has been exceptional, and we appreciate all the support we’ve received. We have been hard at work to ensure the COR experience is as smooth as possible, and are continuing to develop new features to extend the product and experience for our users.

Since launch, we have had (at the time of writing) 21 of the 36 active node operators sign up to display their node info as part of reputation.link and have received some great feedback so far.

Developer Update

It goes without saying that our team has been kept very busy implementing user feedback to ensure our product experience is seamless. Nonetheless, we weren’t held back from adding new features. With that in mind, here are the new features included in our latest release:

Integrations View

A brand new view that will allow you to see all reads and writes from any reference data contract listed on chain. Similar to feeds.chain.link, you will be able to see all writes from oracles to reference data contracts. We also offer the flip side of this coin with DeFi protocol reads from the contracts. This feature is very much in its infancy, and at the moment shows up to the last week of Synthetix interactions with the smart contracts.

More detailed Chainlink Data

COR previously supported a network overview (reputation.link/chainlink), however, we have made some drastic improvements to this feature. Now, not only can you see the most up to date Chainlink statistics, but also view a rolling week overview of the Chainlink Network. The insights offered here are metrics that we will continue to improve in order to provide a holistic overview of the Chainlink network at any point in time, to all.

COR API

We believe that the data captured by reputation.link should be openly used. For this reason, we are introducing the COR API. This is a free-to-use API for personal usage. If you wish to use our data in a commercial setting, please get in touch. For non-commercial users, we have opened up 2 basic endpoints to start with: oracle details and oracle data. This provides the details of a given oracle address (if we have it) including their name, description, website and the most up to date data for each oracle address. They can be accessed by first getting an api key from reputation.link/developers/api and then sending requests with the X-API-KEY header to api.reputation.link/v1. See our docs for more on the exact requests that can be made.

Profile pictures and banners

Those of you paying close attention to the platform may have discovered we released this feature a little early. You can now upload a profile picture and banner to your profile, here is one of our favourites so far.

Custom URLs

Want to link to reputation.link in your Twitter, Medium, Linkedin, etc, without pasting a massive url with your oracle address in it? We have introduced custom domains, allowing you to share your oracle reputation page everywhere. For now, your custom URL is the name given to your oracle — for example for our Secure Data Links oracle, our custom domain is reputation.link/oracle/securedatalinks. This will be fully customisable in future, but if you’re desperate, feel free to reach out at hello@reputation.link or request a change in our discord.

General performance and UX improvements

We’ve added in some small changes such as pagination on the oracles page, an updated reported data table for displaying the data reported by each oracle, and optimised some endpoints to allow the platform to be even snappier than before.
